Corelle

All CORELLE dinnerware is manufactured in the USA by the same Corning, New York factory that has made every piece since the line was launched in 1970. The CORELLE brand is no longer part of Corning, Inc and is now owned and operated under World Kitchen, LLC, whose family of brands includes household names such as CHICAGO CUTLERY®, CORNINGWARE®, EKCO®, PYREX® and REVERE® etc.

Grey metal marks can be commonly found on all glass products. These marks is caused by friction between glass and metal such as using metal utensils, silverware, exposed metal on dishwasher racks or stainless steel sinks. Most glasses are transparent, and metal mark is not found easily. While CORELLE is a 3 layered compressed white or beige glass, these marks can be found easily.

Tips: To remove these marks, clean gently with a recommended non-abrasive cleanser such as CORNINGWARE Cleaner & Conditioner.

Although all the products are being manufactured by cutting edge machines, the backstamp can be printed slightly off from the middle. As this is within the company QA (Quality Assurance) criterion and only items passed by the criterion can be sold, it is not covered under warranty.

CORELLE glass compressing process which manufactured CORELLE bowls and plates is not applicable to make CORELLE cup, mug's shapes with handles and foot of Chinese rice bowl. Hence, CORELLE cups, mugs and Chinese rice bowl are manufactured in Japan using an ultra hard porcelain material which is almost similar to CORELLE glass in strength and colour.

CORELLE dinnerware is created through a very special glass lamination process which thermally bonds two clear "skin" layers of glass to a white or beige "core" layer. The result is lightweight, stackable dinnerware that resists breaking, cracking, and chipping.

Each community has a slightly different composition to its water supply. These can be caused by iron deposits in your water supply with high iron content or even by exposed metal parts in your dishwasher or drying rack.

Tips: To remove iron stains, use a mild cleanser or a recommended non-abrasive cleanser such as CORNINGWARE Cleaner & Conditioner.

The oils from coffee or tea will adhere to the sides of the cups or mugs because of the mineral deposits/residue in the water.

Tip: This coffee or tea discolouration can be removed by cleaning with baking soda or mild cleanser. Alternatively, fill cup or mug 1/4 full with vinegar, dip and clean with a paper towel. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

This mark seen on the back is resulted from the manufacturing process. As this is within the company QA (Quality Assurance) criterion and passed by testing agency, it is not covered under warranty.

CORELLE is coated with a clear & harmless coating spray at the last process to avoid any damage from glass-to-glass contact during shipping. Please wash the new CORELLE in warm water before using to remove the protective coating.

The CORELLE dinnerware manufacturing process produces strong, lightweight dinnerware. However, there may be some visible variance on the rims of the items that is noticeable when the dishes are stacked. CORELLE may appear to be warped because they fit so snugly together; repositioning them in the cabinet may make it less noticeable. This variance is within the guidelines set by our QA (Quality Assurance) department and does not affect the performance of the product. There is nothing that can be done in normal household use to cause CORELLE to warp.

Yes. As CORELLE is heat resistant as well as break resistant, it can be used in microwave oven. But do not heat CORELLE on top of gas, electric and ceramic stovetops, on or near any other direct heating source such as range heat vents, pilot light, open flames, etc even for warming purposes. Do not use CORELLE under broiler/griller, browning element of microwave oven or in a toaster oven.

Yes. CORELLE can be used in refrigerator or freezer as well as in microwave oven. For use in freezer, please use with caution as liquid expansion may cause possible pressure for glass to break.

No harmful substance can be found in the glass material. In particular, all products manufactured by World Kitchen LLC pass the strict criterion which FDA in USA stipulates. Besides, CORELLE is non porous; it does not stain or retain odors.

Corningware

Grey metal marks can be commonly found on all glass products. These marks is caused by friction between glass and metal such as using metal utensils, silverware, exposed metal on dishwasher racks or stainless steel sinks. Metal utensils should not be used with CORNINGWARE. Instead use wooden, nylon or plastic utensils.

To loosen cooked-on food, soak cookware in mild warm soapy water or in vinegar and water mix with the ratio of 1:3 for long hours. CORNINGWARE cookware retains heat so well; you can use a lower heat setting than normal and save on energy. This also helps prevent sticking or burning of food. Use only plastic or nylon cleaning pads, as metal harsh scouring pads can leave grey marks on CORNINGWARE cookware surface.

World Kitchen (Asia Pacific) promises to replace any glass-ceramic part of your CORNINGWARE cookware that breaks from hot or cold temperatures within ten years from date of purchase. But chipped or cracked by impact is not covered under warranty.

Tips: See illustration to differentiate if your CORNINGWARE is due to mechanical or thermal breakage.

Visions

The mark sometimes seen on the base of the ware is from the manufacturing process. When the gob of hot glass is cut, the scissors leave a mark or a ‘line’ in the glass. As the glass cools rapidly, the mark hardens in the glass. This mark can be seen with the naked eye and sometimes felt with the finger. This is no way detracts from the performance of the ware, nor will it cause breakage.

Take the chill off foods before cooking. Remove foods from the refrigerator and allow them to warm slightly (10-15 minutes).

Preheat your pan over medium heat. Test the edge of the pan by tapping it lightly and quickly with your fingers. If it's hot to the touch, it's ready for cooking. Then add about 1 tablespoon of oil or butter and let that get hot. You should hear a sizzle upon placing your food items in the pan.

Turn down the heat! Keep heat at medium to medium-high for frying or sautéing. For simmering and longer stovetop cooking, use low heat. One way to test your pan to see if it's too hot is to do the butter test. Unpeel a stick of butter and coat the inside of your preheated pan. If the butter foams and turns brown, the pan is too hot.

Keep your cookware thoroughly clean, inside and out, for performance as well as appearance. Residue from previous cooking is a common cause of sticking, even on nonstick surfaces. Sometimes hot soapy water does not remove all the oils that build up over time. We recommend cleaning pans periodically with a non-abrasive cleanser.

Condition new pans before use by wiping the surface with a thin coating of shortening or oil. Use medium to low heat for best cooking results. Extremely high temperatures can cause discoloration and shorten the life of any nonstick finish. If higher temperatures are necessary, preheat the pan on medium for a few minutes. Nylon, plastic, wooden or rubber utensils are preferred. Metal utensils may be used with care, but don't cut in the pan.

Dishwashers will not affect the nonstick coating but may affect handles or knobs. Recondition the coating after dishwasher washing by wiping with thin coating of shortening or oil.

Most of our kitchenware products are dishwasher safe. Refer to packaging instructions to verify that an item is labeled as dishwasher safe. Some exceptions include gadgets with gearing such as can openers, items inappropriate for submerging in water such as scales or dial timers, any items made of wood, and all battery-operated items such as digital timers and thermometers. For best results, or if in question, hand wash items with a soapy cloth or sponge and dry immediately. Dishwashing tends to shorten the life of kitchenware products due to heat and aggressive detergents.

Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for care of all World Kitchen products.
